„... toe tappin’ finger snappin’, dancin’ music
..., where sax is king and the band can swing!"
Latest album: King Of The Mood Swings (Pair-A-Dice)
In the United States as well as in Canada the swing-revival
is now as big as it never wasbefore. Lot’s of bands covering the
old standards of Louis prima and Louis Jordan. Johnny Ferreira does
his own thing, he composes his own swing-tunes! Here’s one of the
best swing-bands on this planet: Johnny Ferreira & The Swing Machine!
Johnny Ferreira is an „in your face" saxman whose
inimitable style has had him in the limelight for the past 10 years
as the lead horn player for Colin James, touring extensively throughout
the world as a featured performer and as an opening act for such
artists as Keith Richards, ZZ Top, Steve Winwood, Robert Plant,
Little Feat and The Rolling Stones.
In 1996 Colin James and Johnny Ferreira went seperate
ways and both founded their own swing-band. These two bands are
the leading swing-acts in America meanwhile beside the wellknown
Brian Setzer Orchestra.
Inspired by Rhythm’n’Blues, big band sound, jump blues
and cool jazz, Ferreira’s music stands alongside classics from Louis
Prima and Louis Jordan. It’s stylistically diverse yet unified by
one thing: „It swings like hell!!!"
A trip to Europe last summer, where at Belgium’s
More Blues Festival the band turned the big tent within seconds
into a dancin’ sauna, and the debut-cd was reaching the top 5 at
Studio Brussels, a national Belgium radio station has established
a growning base there. But Belgium was just the start out: Johnny
Ferreira & The Swing Machine are ready to enter the whole European
continent...
After „Crazy ‘bout A Saxophone" Johnny Ferreira has
now his second swing-album on the market, and „King Of The Mood
Swings" is an impressing piece of full power swing music! He’s collecting
outstanding reviews for that as well as a lot of awards. But much
more important is the live performance of this 8-piece-orchestra
including a 3-piece turbo-horn-section. And whoever saw this band
before will confirm: this band is an hurricane!
