His bald head, dark glasses and bushy beard have become instantly
recognizable on the European music scene, but above all it
is his fiery saxophone playing that has made Albie Donnelly
one of the biggest names in continental Rhythm’n’Blues. Since
the Liverpool native founded his band Supercharge in 1976,
he has proceeded to establish it’s reputation with one success
after another: Recordings on the prestigious Virgin label,
tours in support og Queen, Chuck Berry or B.B. King, television
appearances and concerts across Europe and Australia as headliners.
As a frontman who combines bluesy vocals with soulful sax-licks
he has continued and developed the tradition of greats such
as Junior Walker and King Curtis. With it’s new line up Albie
Donnelly’s Supercharge has evolved from it’s origins as a
Rhythm’n’Blues-showband into a leading exponent of authentic,
powerful soul, blues and swing...
